Groups in Dorset Area

There are four geographic groups in Dorset, North, South, East and West. In addition there are the 4050 Walkers and three flexigroups, the Dorset Young Walkers, the Happy Monday Walkers and the Wessex Wanderers.

Each of the Groups can be contacted via their website, given below. They all organise led walks, which can be found either through their websites or by using the Ramblers Go Walking section of its website. You may join up to three trial walks free of charge before joining.

North Dorset Group
We aim to provide two walks each week, generally a shorter walk of between 6 and 8 miles midweek and a longer one on Sundays.

South Dorset Group
Our Group is centred on Dorchester, Weymouth, and surrounding areas but our walks cover the entire county and beyond. Our walks on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays range typically from 5 to 12 miles.

East Dorset Group
We provide led walks from many different locations, varying in length from 5 miles to over 15 miles. Members receive a printed programme three times a year.

West Dorset Group
Walking with our group gives you the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful, unspoilt coastline and countryside of West Dorset, as well as the camaraderie of a friendly group of people.

Young Walkers Group
Dorset Young Walkers are a friendly outdoor activities and social group established in 2003. Our group helps local people enjoy walking and protect the places we all love to walk.

4050 Walkers.
A friendly, relaxed easy going group, who enjoy walking and occasionally socialising; mostly 40 and 50 years old (however, all ages are welcome). We frequently walk on Saturdays and Sundays; our walks range from short leisurely via moderate to
strenuous for those who prefer more of a physical challenge.

Wessex Wanderers Railway Walks
The Wessex Wanderer Railway Walks normally take place annually from May to October and start and finish from railway stations along the Heart of Wessex (Weymouth/Bristol) Railway Line. The walks may be linear or circular. Walks are led by experienced members of the Ramblers from across the four Areas of the Ramblers covered by the line (Avon, Wiltshire & Swindon, Somerset and Dorset)

The Wessex Wanderers is a Ramblers flexigroup and is supported by the South Wessex and Severnside Community Rail Partnerships and Great Western Railway.

Bournemouth Happy Monday Ramblers
A flexigroup offering walks on Mondays.
