Fancy Trying A Walk ?(This page was last updated 06/09/2011.) There are all sorts of walking opportunities in Dorset. Many visitors to the county don't stray far from their cars. Unfortunately that means they miss some of the best views and sights. On this page there is information about walks led by Ramblers leaders and events organised by the Ramblers. On the walks/events organised by other organisations page you can find out about other walking opportunities.
Advice For New WalkersAll sporting and leisure activities have inherent dangers and walking/rambling is no exception. It is important that participants in Ramblers organised events appreciate that they have a responsibility to take reasonable steps to identify hazards and take reasonable steps to minimize or eliminate the potential for an accident to arise. Walks Led By Ramblers LeadersThere are many reasons for going on a walk organised by an experienced Ramblers leader and the best way to find out what those pleasures are is to find a walk suitable for you to try out and go on it. There is a Ramblers' Walks Finder on the UK wide Ramblers site which can be used to search for walks across the country. You can use walks finder to find walks in Dorset organised by Dorset groups and ones from adjoining counties however here are some links to group contact pages (includes a facility to produce a printable copy of the group's walks from walks finder) and walks searches & downloads. East Dorset group page and search for any East Dorset Group walk. South Dorset group page, search for any South Dorset Group walk and walks published on the South Dorset Group web site. Dorset Young Walkers Group , walks published on the DYW web site. West Dorset group page programme. You can search walks finder by town, post code and other factors e.g. try these links for walks near Bournemouth, Dorchester, Weymouth, Bridport and Blandford. If you want to find out more there are group contacts on the contacts page.
